Observations On The Satanic Temple
Introduction
This site attempts to make an accurate summation of my opinion that The Satanic Temple is highly problematic in nature monstly due to the beliefs and actions of the owners and controllers of The Satanic Temple and therefore I mainly concentrate on them. I believe that 90% of 'ordinary' TST members are decent people but that the rigid and inflexible power that its owners exert over it makes these members powerless to affect meaningful change.
If we imagine the informal structure of The Satanic Temple as a stratified pyramid, then the Executive Ministry sits at the apex and all actions, statements and campaigns flow either from or through this Executive Ministry. In short, nothing happens in The Satanic Temple unless the Executive Ministry either instigates it or approves it. The Executive Ministry is comprised of two people; Lucien Greaves and Malcolm Jarry.
My opinions about these subjects are summed up immediately below and discussed in depth on separate web pages with references. They are:
- Lucien Greaves has made numerous and repeated statements that are antisemitic, racist, admiring of fascism and ableist.
- Lucien Greaves has a substantial, prolonged interest in reproduction control via eugenics.
- These opinions are based on his own words in 2003 and 2004 and the fact he owned and controlled a eugenics based website that was live until 2018, as well as blog posts on another website that were live until November 2022.
- Lucien Greaves brought in a man with self-admitted white supremacist ties to help found The Satanic Temple in 2011-13.
- During that period, Lucien Greaves attempted to publish a TST themed sequel to the proto-fascist book Might is Right that he wanted to be 'a manual for coercion and manipulation' of which the main theme 'should be individual gain and how best to achieve it'.
- Lucien Greaves has spoken in support of various extreme right-wing figures numerous times, claiming he was protecting free speech. He has never spoken in support of people exercising their free speech rights by protesting against these extreme right-wing figures, opting instead to attack and belittle them.
- He has created an oppressive and dangerous atmosphere for women in leadership positions in TST, causing many of them to feel they had no option but to leave.
- When his antisemitic, racist, fascist admiring, ableist and eugenicist words were discovered in 2018 and again in 2020 he did not apologize. He eventually apologized four years later in 2022 in a twitter thread, solely for the antisemitic portion of his words, following a very popular YouTuber's exposé of his antisemitism.
- During Pride month, he gave a known right-wing transphobe a tour of TST. He later claimed he did not really know the man despite the man describing them as friends, the fact they follow each other on Twitter and the fact the man had appeared on TST TV in 2019. He refused to apologize for this.
- Some people in positions of power in The Satanic Temple, and Lucien Greaves in particular, utilize TST membership in part as their own 'private hareem'.
- Malcolm Jarry also has right wing beliefs, more rooted in the idea of American Exceptionalism than Lucien Greaves alt-right beliefs.
- Malcolm Jarry believes himself to be an incarnation, or variant, of John Frum, exploting a 'cargo cult' legend from the island of Tanna in the Pacific.
- Malcolm Jarry, who is a self described 'secualr Jew' owns an organisation who's purpose is to intimidate US College's where support for Palestine is present and to target both the College and the supporters via various means of harrassment.
- In an echo of Lucien Greaves using very questionable lawyers, Malcolm Jarry has utilised very questionable PR firms, including firms hired by the Catholic Church during the pedophilia scandal, in an attempt to obfuscate accusations of sexual transgressions and subsequent cover-ups within TST.
- The Satanic Temple use the law as a weapon to silence critics and intimidate potential critics, despite their claims repeatedly being found to be wrong both in fact and in court.
- The Satanic Temple, in positioning itself as the last hope for abortion in the US, is actively directing money, attention and time away from legitimate organizations that can, unlike TST, help people.
- The Satanic Temple's After School Satan Club is putting it's own Ministers and potentially school children at extreme risk of violence from Christian Nationalists.
